Central Florida Fishing

Inshore & Offshore Saltwater Fishing Opportunities

Tuesday December 06, 2016

There's no doubt that east central Florida is one of the country's best fishing destinations for the serious and not-so-serious anglers. Offering the best in both inshore and offshore fishing in Florida anglers can pursue hard fighting and reel sizzling big game fish like king mackerel and cobia or go to world famous inshore waters for a day of sightfishing on the Indian River Lagoon or even the famous Mosquito Lagoon.

The best season for a deep sea fishing excursion varies for each species, but with our experience, it seems that the calm summer days offer the opportunities for anglers to enjoy a day of live baiting, trolling or casting to many oceanic species. You'll find that King Mackerel are present almost all summer long and cobia make their appearance on a regular basis. It's not uncommon to have tarpon and shark near the beaches or dorado attacking far offshore.

Central Florida Offers Saltwater Angling Opportunities

Offshore of Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral's beaches are countless reefs, rocks, ridges and wrecks for the fishing enthusiast to explore. Hiring an experienced and knowledgeable local fishing guide offers the best opportunity for anglers to hookup with many of the local species of saltwater fish like the powerful Jack Crevelle or aerobatic tarpon. Venturing further offshore offers anglers deeper water species like Snapper, Grouper, Sailfish and Dolphin. Simply ask your Charter Fishing Captain what's biting and follow his lead to the best bite in Central Florida's offshore waters.

Orlando has some great sea trout fishing in the winter and depending what kind of winter we have can determine the bite. Trout congregate in normal winters in deep holes along the edges of the shallow water lagoons. This behavior is predictable and help anglers find fish and determine when and where they're going to hold up. Deep water trout can be difficult to catch or "easy as pie" depending on how severe the cold fronts that roll thru Central Florida. Look for some of the best fishing in the later part of the winter leading into the spring spawn season.
