The middle part of Florida is called Central Florida and the east coast between Daytona and Sebastian Inlet is some of the best deep sea fishing North America has to offer. Charter Captains prefer the east coast because of it's proximity to the Gulf Stream and Port Canaveral with it's shoals jutting out and it's long continental shelf, giving anglers an opportunity to catch large benthic fish or troll for fine eating peligics like Mahi-Mahi or sailfish.
The best season for a deep sea fishing excursion varies for each species, but with our experience, it seems that the calm summer days offer the opportunities for anglers to enjoy a day of live baiting, trolling or casting to many oceananic species. You'll find that King Mackerel are present almost all summer long and cobia make their appearance on a regular basis. It's not uncommon to have tarpon and shark near the beaches or dorado attacking far offshore.
Offshore of Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral's beaches are countless reefs, rocks, ridges and wrecks for the fishing enthusiast to explore. Hiring an experienced and knowledgable local fishing guide offers the best opportunity for anglers to hookup with many of the local species of saltwater fish like the powerful Jack Crevelle or aerobatic tarpon. Venturing further offshore offers anglers deeper water species like Snapper, Grouper, Sailfish and Dolphin. Simply ask your Charter Fishing Captain what's biting and follow his lead to the best bite in Central Florida's offshore waters.
"We literally caught a wheel barrow full of fish when we went deep sea fishing off Central Florida with Captain Richard. We'll be back again and again for a great time on the water."
Hello,
I'm Captain Gina Bradley from East Central Florida in Cocoa Beach. My husband, Captain Richard takes me deep sea fishing all summer long for hard fighting and reel stripping action that really makes for a wonderful day of for this outdoor's girl.
You really can't go wrong on Florida's east coast during the summer. The temperatures on the ocean are cooler than inshore and the fishing is fabulous and fast paced on most days. Captain Richard is an expert and knows how to put his anglers on the fish and you'll enjoy his enthusiasm and love for the outdoors.

spawns in spring and early summer; feeds on crabs, squid, and small fish. Target this fish in early spring or late winter (feb-april). Cobia are often seasonal so make your reservations during this time of year.
Orlando has some great sea trout fishing in the winter and depending what kind of winter we have can determine the bite. Trout congregate in normal winters in deep holes along the edges of the shallow water lagoons. This behavior is predictable and help anglers find fish and determine when and where they're going to hold up. Deep water trout can be difficult to catch or "easy as pie" depending on how severe the coldfronts that roll thru Central Florida. Look for some of the best fishing in the later part of the winter leading into the spring spawn season.
